Insurance Agent (Independent Contractor) 04/04 to Present

Affordable Health Insurance, Chehalis, WA

Licensed agent dealing with various markets. Companies appointed to include Bankers Life and Casualty, Mid West Life Insurance Company of Tennessee, and New York Life. Products include life insurance, Medicare supplements, long term care insurance (both “in-home” and “facility” care), annuities, health and cancer insurance. Job responsibilities include prospecting, setting appointments, uncovering client’s needs, finding a product to fulfill those needs, present solutions, close, deliver policies and service accounts. Formed Affordable Health Insurance to stay in compliance with Lewis County and the city of Chehalis.

 

Loan Officer (Independent Contractor) 03/02 to 08/03

Mission Hills Mortgage Bankers, Santa Rosa, CA

Interviewed applicants and requested specified information for loan application. Analyzed applicants’ financial status, credit and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loans. Identified problems, diagnosed causes and determined corrective actions. Ensured loan agreements were complete and accurate according to policy. Demonstrated effective presentation skills. Prepared and presented loan programs at real estate meetings.

 

Teacher 08/99 to 08/02

Lakeport Christian Center School / Various Lake County Schools, Lakeport, CA

Worked as a full time 6th, 7th & 8th grade teacher for LCCS. Responsibilities included teaching all subjects to each of these grades. Before the 2001-2002 school year, I was a substitute teacher for various school districts in Lake County. I was on contract to teach full time for the 1999-2000 school year at Lower Lake High School. Subjects taught were chemistry, earth science integrated science and math.  Finished the 2000-2001 school year as business teacher at Lower Lake High School. Subjects included business law, computer applications and keyboarding.

 

Dive master 02/98 to 07/99

Maui Coastline Dive Shops, Kehei, HI

Took time off between jobs to live on Maui and dive. Assisted dive instructors teaching tourists and local population, open water diving.  Earned my PADI Dive master’s certification.

 

Site Superintendent 07/97 to 01/98

Enviroserve Inc., Sykesville, MD

Managed site operations of the waste cleanup at the U.S. Department of the Interior Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Maryland. Responsible for the excavation, handling, and off-site disposal of approximately 12,000 cubic yards (17,000 tons) of solid waste material from the old dump site and chemical leach field.  Potentially hazardous waste required working with regulatory authorities on local, state and federal levels. Worked closely with subcontractors to insure all segments of the project were in compliance with the project specifications. Project was completed after excavation area was back filled with clean fill and hydro seeded.
